Minted by the Mexican Mint, the Libertad became the first bullion coin minted in fractional sizes. These coins, first issued in 1991, are legal tender, although no face value is displayed. The obverse image of the ‘Angel of Independence’ is based loosely after the 50 Peso’s ‘Winged Liberty,’ and the reverse features the ‘Official State Seal of Mexico.’ Available in 1, 1/2, 1/4, 1/10 and 1/20 ounce sizes. | ||
